Anthony Cybulski Obituary

Cybulski, Anthony J. AVERILL PARK Anthony J. "Shorty" Cybulski, 86, was born to Frank and Mary (Witkowski) Cybulski, in Colts Neck, N.J., on April 28, 1925, and passed into heavenly peace on January, 26, 2012. Shorty and his wife, Eleanor "Peggy" Riddle, raised their family in Spring Lake Heights, N.J. He retired as a truck driver from a beer distributor, was a volunteer fireman in his younger years, an honorary member of the Sand Lake Kiwanis Club, an avid crossword puzzler, and an enthusiastic sports and horseracing fan Shorty served his country with honor and distinction in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a gunners mate second class aboard LCI-651. He was awarded many active service medals including the Naval Achievement Medal for his bravery during the invasion of Iwo Jima. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Peggy, Shorty is survived by children, Joseph (Carol) of Averill Park, James (Suzane) of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., Toni Anne Reisch of Dover, Del., and Thomas of N.J.; grandchildren, Erin (Larry) Mackey, Jill (Brian) Wilson, Gary Goss, Joel Goss, Dena Pierro; and four adored great-grandchildren, Emily, Katelin, Morgan and Gabriel Wilson, and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Shorty's family thanks all of the kind and generous people too numerous to mention here who touched his life and made it a celebration. He lived a good life full of laughter, a life made infinitely sweeter by the love and care of his adopted family at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes. There are no words great enough to thank the Shabhazim, nursing and administrative staffs at the Eddy for all that they did for and gave to Shorty. A celebration of life memorial service will be held in New Jersey this April. However, donations made in Shorty's memory may be sent in care of Kay Hogan, Eddy Village Green, 421 Columbia St., Cohoes NY 12047, with a notation "Anthony Cybulski, House No. 7 Activity Fund."
