Anthony DeSieno Obituary

DeSieno, Anthony F. MECHANICVILLE Anthony F. DeSieno, 93, of Saratoga Ave., passed away on Friday evening, December 26, 2014 at Wesley Health Care in Saratoga Springs, after a brief illness. Tony was a native and lifelong resident of Mechanicville and son of the late John and Mary DeMarco DeSieno. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was discharged as a sergeant. Upon returning home, he worked at the former West Virginia Pulp and Paper Co. until the plant closed in 1971. Thereafter, Tony worked for the New York State DOT, at their Waterford Depot, for 15 years, before retirement. He also worked part time as a teller at the Saratoga Harness Track and ran a home-based printing press business, making business cards and invitations. Tony was a member of Assumption-St. Paul Parish and it's Holy Name Society. He was former, active member of the Peters-Purcell ITAM Post and an interested member of a local stock and investment club. He played Bocce Ball at the Italian Fraternal and church courts. Sadly, predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Jane Miranda DeSieno, who died on July 14, 2013, and a sister, Frances DeSieno Scotti. Survivors include his three children, John DeSieno of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Anne Miranda of Mechanicville and Mark and Kelli DeSieno of Gilbertsville, Pa. Grandchildren include, Max (Alisha) DeSieno of Troy, Marcus DeSieno of Tampa, Fla., and Iain, Madisyn and Garrison DeSieno, all of Pa.; great-granddaughter Gabriella of Troy and Aunt Josephine DeMarco Russom of Mechanicville. In-laws, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends also survive Tony. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 12 p.m. at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 North Main St., Mechanicville. A burial, with military honors, will take place at the Saratoga National Cemetery. Calling hours will be at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 South Main St., Mechanicville, on Monday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
