Anthony Smaldone Obituary

Smaldone, Anthony LATHAM, N.Y. Anthony Smaldone, 89, of Jeanne Jugan Ln., beloved husband of the late Rose E. Sanders Smaldone, died on Monday, January 14, 2008 at his residence. Born on May 7, 1918 in Mechanic-ville, he was the son of the late Louis A. and Nicolina Messore Smaldone and was a graduate of Mechanicville High School. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. Mr. Smaldone retired in 1986 from S.S. Pierce in Clifton Park where he had been employed for 20 years as a truck driver and he had also been employed at the Menands Market in Menands for 22 years. Father of Carol Lucey of Troy, Anthony T. Smaldone Jr. of Schaghticoke, Rose Marie (Richard) Romano of Cohoes and the late Louis A. Smaldone; brother of the late Sylvester, Stephen and Louis Smaldone; also survived by nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Residence Chapel, 1 Jeanne Jugan Lane, Latham, NY 12110. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at Our Lady of Hope Residence on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Entombment will be held in St. Mary's Community Mausoleum, Troy. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Our Lady of Hope Residence, in memory of Anthony Smaldone. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the John J. I use to work with you at St. Mary's Hospital in the kitchen in the 90's I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. I know you will get through this hard time I lost my mom 4mths ago. May my deepest sypathy be with you during this hard time.

My Husband and I want to express our condolences to your family. We got to know Anthony while frequently visiting Our Lady OF Hope. My Mom and Dad are also residences (on the Second Floor) at Our Lady of Hope. We helped celebrate Tony's last birthday with him. Our prayers are with the family.
