Anthony Stefanacci Obituary

Stefanacci, Anthony Joseph Eugene "AJ"
SARATOGA SPRINGS - Our son, Anthony Joseph Eugene Stefanacci "AJ", suddenly and without warning died on Friday, May 10, 2024, at the age of 17. Anthony was predeceased by his sister, Kelsey Elizabeth; and grandfather, Eugene Joseph. Anthony is survived by his parents, Janetlyn and Matthew; his older sisters, Kaylin Anne (Colin) and Giuliana Katherine. He is also survived by his nephews, Elias, Colin and Keegan; his grandmother, Betty Stefanacci; aunt, Tracey and uncle, Chuck Tyree, uncle, Michael McLain (Angelica); uncle, Michael Stefanacci (Alexis); and so many other cousins and relatives to list. He is also survived by his cherished pets, Lillo and Annika. This is in addition to the countless friends that Anthony made during his time of public service.
There will be a Celebration of Life on May 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the Saratoga Abundant Life Church, 2 Hutchins Rd., Saratoga Springs, N.Y. 12866, with a small luncheon to follow where family will receive friends.
Anthony was born on May 19, 2006, a full nine weeks ahead of schedule.
As a child, Anthony's love of creations with Lego's, his love of Walt Disney World and fascination with emergency services became emboldened. Although these were his passions, he would try everything presented to him: jiu jitsu, drums, soccer and tee-ball, just to name a few.
Anthony was incredibly intelligent, charismatic, loving and witty, with a give-it-all lifestyle. He turned these traits into dedicating his life to public service. Anthony was a former member of the Saratoga County Sheriff's Explorer Post #037 where he learned that service to the public was his passion and calling.
Anthony then transitioned into public service with the Malta Ridge Volunteer Fire Department and the Ballston Lake Emergency Squad. On Sunday May 5, 2024, Anthony became a certified NYS EMT and was on the road to earning his Paramedic certification. This accomplishment at his young age gave him such pride and a sense of belonging. Anthony's passion and love for the Malta Ridge Fire Department and Ballston Lake EMS was deep and without end. Anthony's goal was to follow in his father's footsteps and become a professional firefighter/paramedic. All while being heavily involved in the fire and EMS community, Anthony was preparing to graduate from Saratoga Springs High School, where he was best known for being the unofficial greeter at the front doors of the school every morning, bringing a smile to everyone he greeted. Anthony also was a student of the Criminal Justice Program through BOCES.
The Stefanacci Family would like to give heartfelt appreciation to Chuck and Tracey Tyree, Ronald Butler, the entire Saratoga Springs Fire Department, the entire Saratoga Springs Police Department, Fire Chief, Aaron Dyer, Fire Lt., Elizabeth Grebe and for the countless friends, family and neighbors who are traveling this painful road with us. Please consider donating to a humanity or worthy charity in honor of our son, Anthony Stefanacci.

I remember we volunteered together for the Pumpkin Run in 2022. He was posted next to me (albeit many meters away... we were in looking-at-each other distance) and even though we were definitely supposed to be working (we did!), Anthony kept doing silly stuff to boost the morale of our somewhat boring volunteer job. It ranged from whistling competitions to making motions with our lighting sticks at each other. When no one was near us, we´d meet in the middle to talk and chat before running back to our posts to do what we were supposed to be doing. He was so, so, so funny and full of excitement and life. I had so much fun that day, and I could tell he did too.

He loved his family a lot. I know me and him were around the last ones to get picked up. He would not stop talking about how much he loved his sister and how cool she was. It was so sweet to see.

I´ve done stuff with him other times too. I just remember that one specifically. I wish I had made an effort to connect even more with him. He was such a lovely guy. I´m going to miss him a lot. He had an impact on me that he probably thought he wouldn´t ever have.
