Anthony N. Toppses

Toppses, Anthony N. ALISO VIEJO, Calif. Anthony (Tony) Nicholas Toppses, 43, of Aliso Viejo, passed away on May 29, 2010 from a 20 year heroic and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Funeral and internment services were held in Calif. on June 3, 2010. He was born on February 14, 1967 in East Greenbush, N.Y. Tony's youth was marked by his athleticism and talent. He played Troy youth hockey in N.Y. and was a tennis champion at Columbia High School in East Greenbush. He also served his church community as an altar boy at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in Albany, N.Y. from the time he was a youth to the end of his college years. He was a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute both with a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering and a master's degree in mechanical engineering. After college, he worked as a project engineer for the biomedical engineering firm Sheridan Catheter Co. in Argyle, N.Y. During his time with the firm, he was awarded 2 patents. Tony married Yvonne Patellis on October 25, 1998 in Lake George, N.Y. He then moved to Aliso Viejo, in 1999, where he lived out the remainder of his life. He is survived by his beloved wife Yvonne; parents, Nicholas and Eftihia (Joy) Toppses of East Greenbush; brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Theodore and Vicki Toppses of Lewiston, Maine; nieces, Nicole and Julianna Toppses; in-laws, Nicholas and Lillian Patellis of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; grandmother, Zenovia Tsamar-dinos of Albany; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Tony's bright smile, warm hugs and infectious laugh will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on June 20, 2010 at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 440 Whitehall Road, Albany, N.Y.
