Arnold Beberwyck Obituary

SLINGERLANDS Arnold E. Beberwyck, 82, of Slingerlands, formerly of Nassau died Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at Guilderland Center Nursing Home. He was the son of the late Emil and Freda Zollinger Beberwyck. He graduated from CBA class of 1939 and attended Siena College both before and after his service with the Army in World War II in France and Germany. Arnold was a chemist and consultant at GAF and BASF in Rensselaer for over 50 years before his retirement in 1986. Arnold is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris Meineker Beberwyck; a sister, Sister Mary Aquiline of Syracuse; sons, Brian (Dory) of East Greenbush, Lorin (Nancy) of Schenectady, Alan of Nassau and Jeffery (Tracey) Beberwyck of Mechanicville; his daughters, Linda Peavy of Albany, Barbara (William) O'Toole of Latham and Lisa Brin of Albany. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Eric, Ryan and Brandon Beberwyck of Bedford, Texas, Alexander O'Toole of Latham, Amanda and Kyle Beberwyck of Schenectady and Val and Adam Beberwyck of Mechanicville; and a daughter-in-law, Regina Martin of Bedford, Texas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Arnold was predeceased by his parents; three sisters, Freda Beberwyck, Matilda Beberwyck and Olga Larsen; a son, Mark Beberwyck; an infant son and infant granddaughter. He was an avid skier and served on the Jiminy Peak Ski Patrol for 32 years. Even in this retirement he skied four days most weeks until he was 80 years old. He also loved cycling and friends and neighbors were used to seeing him ride every day in the summer. He was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Church in Nassau. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass at St. Mary's Church in Nassau on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Contributions to St. Mary's Church, P.O. Box 435, Nassau, NY 12123 in Arnold's memory would be appreciated.
