Barbara McMullen Obituary
RAVENA - Barbara G. McMullen, 55 of Ravena, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023, at Albany Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
Born in Albany on April 28, 1967, Barbara was the daughter of the late Walter and Rose Dunican. Barbara was raised and resided in Ravena. She led a life dedicated to service in her community. She began her service as a corrections officer for the Albany County Sheriff's Office. She continued on to become a police officer for the Town of Coeymans Police Department and retired as a deputy sheriff for Albany County.
Barbara is survived by her siblings, Brian (Alice) Dunican, Margaret (Paul) Miles, Susan (Hugh) Derway, Hope (Sandy) DeBacco, and Dawn (Steven) Reed; sons, Justin (Kelsey) McMullen and Brandon (Lauren) McMullen; one grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to thank the staff of Albany Medical Center and Dana Farber Cancer Institute for the care she received during her illness.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2023, in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 85 Elm Ave., Delmar, followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m.
Barb requested donations in her memory be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, P.O. Box 22324, New York, NY, 10087.

Wow is all I can say. There were so many people at the service today that I stood in line for over an hour and still did get to the front to give my condolences to her family. What a tribute to Barb and all the lives that she touched. She was truly loved by all. What a legacy. She is lucky to have such a wonderful family.

I'm sorry to hear about your Mom. The news was unexpected and shocking. Whenever I couldn't find Carole, there was a good chance that she was at Barb's house with the rest of the girls. It was with great sadness that I heard of Barb's passing. I have fond memories of Barb. We went to the police academy together. She was like the mother hen. Barb was sweet and comforting, but tough as nails. She would always talk about her family in a loving and glowing way. Barb was down to earth and a truly good person. She will be deeply missed.

So sorry for your loss of such a wonderful person. Even during her time of sickness she always had a smile on her face which you could even detect under her mask. I had the privilege of working with Barb. Unfortunately I have spoken to her in years. Maybe 2015 that me, Barb and Teresa got together. But I can tell you this, Barb had the biggest heart ever. Her charm and energy were powerful. We shard many good times at ACCF, as well as helping children with disabilities. She was truly a friend to everyone. I will miss you. She was a great lady. Me and my sister were troubled young adults due to circumstances we really had no control over. Thankfully she was one of the officers that'd be on duty and she'd settle situations down with her caring and listening. Later on in our lives I got to know her more and she was always kind to me and I had the pleasure of working with her 2 sons who are equally great people. Not many people leave the mark on a community like she has she will be forever missed and remembered. Rest in Peace Barb you're no longer suffering
