Barbara Ramsay Welt

Welt, Barbara Ramsay (Bruce) TAMPA, Fla. Barbara Ramsay (Bruce) Welt died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Tampa on August 22, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Norman H. Bruce and Mary P. Bruce of West Newton, Mass. She was a graduate of Newton High School and Colby-Sawyer College. Barbara's optimistic spirit, love of laughter and dedication to her beloved family and friends was an inspiration to all who knew her. Known as "Bibi" to her family, she leaves her children, Andrew Welt and his wife Kimberly, Lt. Col. D. Douglas Welt, Johanna Welt and her partner Steve DeOssie; and grandchildren Emily E. and Andrew J. Welt. Barbara was the beloved sister of Joanna Ziegler and sister-in-law to Robert Ziegler. She was also sister-in-law to Jan and Gail Welt of Anchorage, Alaska; and loving aunt to Beth Franklin, Christina Palmer and Bruce Laidlaw. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Dixon Sherman Welt of Albany. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held in the Central Congregational Church in Providence, R.I. on Saturday, September 29, at 10 a.m with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, Bibi's family requests that donations be made in her name to St. Margaret's Center in Albany.
