Ben Lindsay Obituary

Lindsay, Ben Julius Sr. "Killer" COLONIE Ben Julius Lindsay Sr., affectionately know as "Killer," passed away peacefully Friday, February 15, 2008 at the Stratton VA Medical Center. Born March 12, 1926 in Ansonville, N.C., he was the son of the late Julius Lindsay and Ophelia Black. Ben faithfully served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was employed at Tobin Packing Company for over 30 years. He retired from the NYS Office of General Services after 11 years of service. Ben was a master barber for many years at the Three Star Barber Shop. He leaves to mourn, his soul mate and very dear friend, Emmazine Lindsay; one son, Ben (Vera) Julius Lindsay Jr. of Chapel Hill, N.C.; one daughter, Benita G. (Lucious Jr.) Lindsay-Jordan of Niskayuna, N.Y.; two brothers, Thomas Lee (Gertrude) Lindsay of Thomasville, N.C. and Johnny F. (Lena) Black Sr. of Simpsonville, N.C.; two sisters, Juanita (Carlton Lee) Bordies of Nyack, N.Y. and Joe Lether Strong of Reading, Pa.; four grandchildren, Tamiko Lindsay, Justin Lindsay, Brandon Lindsay and Lucious Jordon III; one great-granddaughter, Danielle L. Lindsay; one great-great-grand-son, Jonathan Ryan Lindsay; and one aunt, Mrs. Lucille Horne of Baltimore, Md. He also leaves to mourn several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two daughters, Sharon LaRose Lindsay and Janet Williams; one brother, John "Billy" Agnes. The Lindsay family would like to extend their appreciation to the Hospice staff at the Stratton VA Medical Center and a very special thank you to Mr. Tim Hoey. Funeral services will be Thursday 12:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.) Calling hours will precede services from 10:00 to 12:00 at the funeral home. Uncle Benny will be missed.

I will always remember his willingness to share, his impeccable attire and his cigars but mostly his visits to North Carolina in the 'big cadillac' to see my family. We always looked forward to the many visits from Uncle Benny and family through the years.
