Carol Bevilacqua Obituary

Bevilacqua, Carol COLONIE Carol Connell Bevilacqua peacefully passed away on May 25, 2021, with her loving family by her side. As the snow was falling lightly, just beginning to cover the ground of Congress Street in Troy, Anna Keville Connell woke her sleeping husband to tell him "it was time." Michael headed up Congress Street to Christine Keville's house, midwife and grandmother, to come and deliver the baby. Anna's sister, Bessie, came along to help deliver her niece. Carol Jean Connell was born at 2:38 a.m. Since Carol was born earlier than expected, and the new parents were not prepared, Christine laid her newborn granddaughter down in a drawer. Carol's siblings, Nancy, Jimmy, and Norine awoke to find their early Christmas present sleeping soundly. Nancy went downtown to buy a new blue dress for Carol's first Christmas. Carol attended School 14 and as a young girl she liked to ride her bike up and down Congress Street hill and swim at Prospect Park. She enjoyed going to football games on Friday nights at Troy high school where she graduated from in 1955. Carol had a long and successful career with New York State for the Department of Labor. It was there that she met her husband, John Bevilacqua. They celebrated many wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2006. They were parishioners of St. Clare's parish in Colonie. Together they raised five children: Corey (Shirley), John Jr. (Julie), Lisa (Joe) Lang, Shelly Lindsay, and Louis (Lori). She has 14 grandchildren, Corey, Anthony, Michael, and Gina Bevilacqua, John III (Kristen) and Jessica Bevilacqua, Joey and Jimmy Lang, Allyson, Scott and Steven Lindsay, Aidan, Duncan, and Evan Bevilacqua; along with two great-grandchildren, Rory and Noelle. Carol created many memories vacationing every year in Hampton Beach as a child, bringing her own family there and continued until she was 80 years old. She enjoyed tent camping with her husband and five children. She was a scout leader for many years. John and Carol had a fondness for casinos and traveled to Las Vegas several times. She could be seen at her grandchildren's sporting events, dance recitals and competitions. Carol was predeceased by her husband, John; grandson Bryan Lindsay; and siblings, Nancy Carrk (Frank), Norine Byrnes, and James Connell (Joan). She is survived by her brother in-law, Erv and she leaves behind many nieces and nephews with whom she has shared many memories and laughs. Carol's family would like to give thanks to Hospice, Sue, Layla, and Mary, who gave support to Carol and her family. A special thanks is given to Tracey and Stephenie. With Tracey's care and love, Carol was able to stay in her home. Tracey was more than a caregiver; she was like a third daughter. Carol and Tracey enjoyed their daily Bible studies. They had a special bond, and we are so grateful for the loving care she gave mom. A special thanks to Stephenie who was also there in her time of need. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Carol's family on Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Clare's Church, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY, 13220 or Community Hospice of Albany, 310 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY, 12208.
