Carolyn Conerty Obituary

Conerty, Carolyn C. MECHANICVILLE Carolyn C. Conerty, 81, of Valley View Terrace, died early Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at Saratoga Center (Maplewood Manor) after a long illness. Born in Troy on August 8, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Alden and Kirstine Madsen Crandell. A 1952 graduate of Lansingburgh High School, Carolyn was a homemaker until her children were grown. She then worked for 12 years at JCPenney in Clifton Park. She later would move on to work at Wits End as a jewelry saleswoman, where she worked for 16 years before retiring in 2012. Carolyn had many hobbies, including reading, bingo, friendly card games, and especially shopping trips. Her annual vacations to the Maine coast were something she always looked forward to. Carolyn also had a love of lighthouses. Above all else though was the joy of being with her family. She cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Donald H. Conerty, who died in 1992, as well as her brother Irwin Crandell. Survivors include her children, Linda (Joseph) Maiello of Mechanicville, Mark (Debbie) Conerty of Schaghticoke and Krista (John) LaBar of Malta. Grandchildren, Paul (Heather), Matthew and Alissa Maiello, Zachary (Sarah), Ryan (Janette), Katelyn (Rick Hopeck) Conerty, and Hilary LaBar. Step-grandchildren Justin (Morena) Laustrup and Megan (James) Carey. Great-grandchildren Alden Maiello, Kayla, Addison, Keegan and Owen Conerty. Step-great-grandchildren Jacob, Taylor and Abrianna Laustrup. Also her aunt Shirley Wood, sister-in-law Grace Crandell and niece Susan Crandell Wilkinson as well as several cousins. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Those wishing to remember Carolyn in a special way are asked that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to National Parkinson Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131 in her memory. To Linda, Mark, Krista and Family,

The words are difficult to find to express the love, memories, laughter, tears and joy shared over the years with Carol. She was a loving and caring person whom the title of Mother-in-Law blessed my life for many years and will forever hold dear in my heart. She was an amazing cook, loving grandmother and always proud of her family. If ever there was an award given for Best Gift-Wrappershe certainly would have taken First Prize.always putting so much thought into each package she adorned. Rest in peace Carol and may your light shine forever.
