Catherine J. Stevens

Stevens, Catherine J. ALBANY Catherine J. Stevens, age 84, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013 at the Albany Medical Center Hospital after a brief Illness. Catherine was born on August 17, 1928 in West Coxsackie. She was the daughter of the late Floyd Russell and Eleanor White Russell. She was a former long time resident of West Coxsackie. Employed by Adamo's Dress Factory for many years and Knaust Cannery in Coxsackie. She was also a housewife and caretaker for her loving family. She was united in marriage for 40 years to Edward W. Stevens Sr., he died on October 17, 1983. From their loving marriage, 11 children were born and one adopted son. Survivors include nine children and their spouses, Harry Stevens, Lena Cruz-Tanvere, Sherian Stevens-Thornton, (David Thornton), Thomas Stevens (Lisa Stevens), Mitchell Stevens (Betty), Elaine Stevens, Sandra Stevens, David Stevens, Donald Stevens and also raised nephew, William Stevens, who adored her as a mother. In addition, survivors include 44 grandchild, 91 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren. Also, a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers, Uncle Rusty, Raymond Russell, Robert Russell; one sister, Marcella Palmer and two children, Edward Stevens Jr. and Christine Stevens. She was a past member of the Bethel A.M.E church in Coxsackie for many years. Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, July 25, 2013 from 3 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Retta Lykens, Pastor of The Cairo United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Coxsackie. Funeral services under the care of W.C.
