Charles "Chuck" Matheson

Matheson, Charles "Chuck" SCHAGHTICOKE Charles "Chuck" Matheson of Casey Road passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015, at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. He was 78. Born in Gowanda on July 10, 1936, he was the son of the late Robert and Frances (Boys) Matheson. He is the husband of the former Dorothy A. Baxter, whom he married on March 7, 1959. Mr. Matheson served in the United States Army with the 11th Airborne Paratroopers. He worked as a machinist at the Watervliet Arsenal and enjoyed racing stock cars at Lebanon Valley Speedway and riding his motorcycle. Survivors, in addition to his wife of 56 years Dorothy Matheson, include their daughters, Debra (Robert) Keefner of Valley Falls and Marie (Terry) Thibodeau of North Bennington, Vt.; his siblings, Martha (Charles) Rifenburgh of Buskirk, Phillip (Melissa) Matheson of Exton, Pa., and Sally (Jack) Deming of Greenville, S.C.; his beloved grandchildren, Bryan Delurey of Buford, Ga., Laura Keefner, Lynn Delurey and Jacob Keefner, all of Valley Falls, and one great-grandchild, Noellani Gillians of Middletown. He is predeceased by a daughter, Karen Matheson, who passed at birth. Relatives and friends may call from 3 to 4 p.m., on Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main St., Schaghticoke. A memorial service will be conducted at the convenience of his family.
