Neilson, Claire A.
TROY - Claire A. Neilson, 82, of 5th Avenue, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, with her loving family at her side at Samaritan Hospital.
Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Aloysius and Alice Fengler Soulier. She was a 1959 graduate of Heatly High School. Claire had been employed for 19 years at the Troy Savings Bank. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford, a member of the Altar Society, a former eucharistic minister, and a former member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was also a member of the Secular Order of St. Augustine and the Columbiettes and a former member of the VFW Auxiliary in Halfmoon and Legion of Mary.
Survivors include her husband, John J. Neilson; her children, Celeste Hawthorne of Cohoes, Matthew Neilson (Martina) of Troy, John C. Neilson (Iris) of Kansas City, Kan., and Sally St. Germain (Paul) of Troy. She was the sister of John Soulier of Scotland and the late Edward and Robert Soulier. She was the proud grandmother of Benjamin and Katherine Hawthorne, Christina Hobbins, Niklas Kantimm, Jason, Michael, Melody, Mary, Mason and Mattson Neilson and Parker St. Germain; and great-grandmother of Jonathan, Charlotte, Vincent and Daniel.
A memorial service will be held at a future date to be announced.
