My condolences to your family. I was fortunate enough to sit a few years back with him at the Military Museum and listen to his stories about his time with the Airmen in WWII. He was very gracious and allowed me the opportunity to build him a model of his P-51...seeing the smile on his face when I gave it to him was a great reward. I hope for clear skies for him now...

Clarence Dart, a wonderfully sweet man.
Dart was the father I always wanted, the brother, friend, husband, hero, confidant and loving considerate person everyone wished to have in their life. While being a humble father to his family he unknowingly adopted many many more like me and mine. He was the 'go to person' with a problem. God, please take care of Him.
I love you, I miss you and think of you often. You not only served yours and extended families, you served your country and fellow man for as long as you could. Your end came much much too soon. You will never be gone, but will always remain in the hearts and thoughts of the many who love you.
With my love to the Dart Family being this a time of our countries greatest sorrowful loss I say,
'God Bless You All'.
Always,
Harriett Pierce (Daniels) & Sons

To a Father and a Man I admired, especially knowing him as a “Tuskegee Airmen.” I had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Dart through dating his daughter Gwen while in H.S. and gaining his respect. I will always remember the last time I saw Mr. Dart and Mrs. Dart together in Price Choppers, as I did the many days they would sit on the porch of their home. A True and Genuine Afro-American, may you “Rest in Peace.” Condolences to Mrs. Dart, Kathy, Warren, Gwen, Denise, Dawn, Joyce and Cynthia.

I was extremely saddened to hear of Lt. Col. Dart's passing. I only learned of this great American hero this past year, when doing some research with my students for Veteran's Day. I had heard years ago, that there was a Tuskegee Airman from Elmira, and when I shared this with the students, they were intent on learning more about him. We were fortunate to have had the opportunity to send him letters thanking him for his service and dedication to his country. To say that he was a hero seems to be such an understatement. His courage went far beyond anything that we can ever know. It is such a loss on so many levels when a man of his caliber passes away. May God welcome him into his loving arms, and may his family find comfort knowing how blessed they were to have him in their lives. He has earned his wings; his angel wings! God Bless you Lt. Col. Dart.

I can't make it up there today for the wake, but I wanted to express my condolences to the family, especially Warren and Kathy who I knew in high school. I played violin in the school orchestra under Mr Mead, and visited the house with Kathy a time or two. I remember a robust, happy and kind household headed by two wonderful parents. I (and probably most people at that time) did not know the the full measure of your father's life then, but my memories of a lovely, gracious man are still quite fresh.

During one of our early trips to Oshkosh we were standing at the flight line as a formation of P-51's roared past. I remember feeling so honored to be standing next to Clarence, who had flown these magnificant airplanes for real - in combat. Now Clarence and our other great friend, Stan Schlusberg, have "slipped the surly bonds." Clarence was a true hero and always a gentleman. I count knowing him as one of the most memorable experiences of my life.

My first remembrance of Clarence was in his uniform at the UMC on Washinton St. I thought then as he impressed me,' what a man!' Not only his military service for which he was awarded many times while still with us, but he was a model gentleman at all times with his family and all others, hard to equal his life on earth. God bless Millie and family.
