Daniel Doherty Obituary

Doherty, Daniel O. LOUDONVILLE Daniel O. Doherty, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 10, 2018. He was comforted by his devoted wife Faith, his sons and family, all of whom have been at his side throughout his illness this past year. Born in Toledo, Ohio, he was the son of the late Patrick and Catherine Sieloff Doherty. Dan graduated from Central Catholic High School in Toledo, and then from the University of Toledo. He was a longtime owner and officer of Almac Associates, Inc., and prior to that, was employed by Owens Corning. A faithful parishioner of St. Pius X and member of Wolfert's Roost Country Club, Dan loved Cape Cod, Mass., Naples, Fla., traveling, reading, gardening, and most of all, his family. He will be remembered for his infectious smile, genuine intellect, endless kindness, generous heart and determined spirit. He was the husband of Mary Faith Turner Doherty, and the late Elaine Doherty; father of Daniel Doherty (Tara), Glen Doherty (Rhonda), Ryan Doherty (Penelope), Dennis Doherty (Christina) and the late Cynthia Safran (Thomas); grandfather of Kelly, Connor, Regan, Luke, Logan, Lauren and Londyn; brother of Douglas Doherty and Patricia McCarthy; stepfather of Catherine Dascher, Karen Tyrrell (Tim), Faith Chrisom (Sean), Mary Ellen Liguori (John) and John Turner; step-grandfather of Kristin (William), Kelly (Brian), Timothy (Jeremiah), Brendan, Conor, Caroline, Cara, Emily, Michael, Mary Faith, Jake, Joshua, Julia and Ali; five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends survive. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Daniel's family on Monday, June 18, from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Loudonville. His funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. The Rite of Committal will be held in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery immediately following the funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Catherine's Center for Children of Albany or the Peter G. Young Foundation, Inc.
