Daniel Mahoney Obituary

Mahoney, Daniel Patrick Jr. LATHAM Daniel Patrick Mahoney Jr., 77, died Saturday, September 25, 2021, in Naples, Fla. surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness. The son of the late Dr. Daniel P. Mahoney Sr., and Mary Bounds Mahoney, he was born on Valentine's Day, 1944 on Governors Island in New York City, where his father practiced medicine. Shortly after that, the family moved to Lansingburgh. Dan grew up in Lansingburgh and was a 1962 graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy. He then attended Mount Saint Mary's University in Emmitsbug, Md. After college, he served five years in the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of captain. Dan was a well-known real estate appraiser in the Capital District. In retirement, he and his wife Jean moved to Cape Cod and finally to their home in Naples, Fla., where they lived for the past 17 years. Dan's favorite things were watching the sun glisten on the Gulf, walking on the beach with Jean, reading, watching the Patriots, sharing time with family and friends and spending summers at Burden Lake in Averill Park. He is survived by his wife Jean (Facteau) Mahoney; and his children, Kelly Mahoney Olson, Daniel Mahoney (Stephanie), Richard Mahoney (Kim), Mamie Mahoney Gibson (Gerald), Christine Nailor Noon and David Nailor. He also leaves behind his siblings, Mary Dana Mahoney, William Mahoney (Nancy), Anne Mahoney Lengkeek (Dale), John Mahoney (Ann) and Robert Mahoney (Mary); along with his grandchildren, Grace, Ryan, Devin, Brenna, Dillon, Cameron, Lilly, Hunter, Seamus and Kate. Calling hours will be held at St. Henrys Church, 39 Old Route 66, Averill Park on Friday, October 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, in St. Henrys Church. Burial will follow in St. Henrys Cemetery. Immediately following the burial, everyone is invited to brunch at The Lakeview Restaurant, 4 Old Route 66, Averill Park.
