Danuta Duda Obituary

Duda, Danuta M. WATERVLIET Danuta M. "Donna" (Gorski) Duda, 76, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 12, 2015, in New York City while returning from a cruise vacation with her family. Born in Sanok, Poland on June 17, 1939, Danuta was the daughter of the late Frank and Sophia (Bohacz) Gorski and the stepdaughter of the late Mary (Gurak) Gorski, who raised Danuta when her mother passed away at an early age. Danuta immigrated to the United States and settled in Watervliet where she resided for most of her life. She was a member of the graduating class of 1959 of Watervliet High School and later was employed by NYNEX/Bell Atlantic from where she retired in 1995 following 35 years of service. On June 15, 1963, Danuta was married to Eugene Duda in the former Immaculate Conception Church in Watervliet and together they enjoyed 18 years of marriage before his passing in 1981 at the age of 45. Danuta was a member of the Polish National Alliance, Lodge 1684, in Cohoes where she held several offices, the former Pulaski Club of Watervliet and was a communicant of St. Michael's Church in Cohoes where she was a member of the Rosary Society. Before its closing, she was a long-time member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Watervliet. In her retirement years, Danuta enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved to travel, visit casinos, and attend any event her cherished grandchildren were involved in. Her sudden passing has left a void in the hearts of those who loved her and she will be missed by all those whose lives she touched. Danuta is survived by her three loving sons and their wives, Eugene F. Duda and his wife Deborah of Latham, Mark J. Duda and his wife Vicki of Colonie and Eric S. Duda and his wife Linda of Latham; her cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, Morgan, Nolan and Ethan Duda, Megan McNamara and Matthew Pleasant; her uncle, Kazimierz Matala of Latham; her sisters-in-law, Genevieve Duda of Latham and Viola Pludzynski of Waterford and her life-long best friend, Patricia Nazarian; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held on Friday, July 17, 2015, at 9:15 a.m., from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and thence to St. Michael's Church, Cohoes, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by Reverend Peter Tkocz, pastor. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Colonie. Friends are invited and may also visit with Danuta's family on Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. For those who wish to remember Danuta in a special way, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Michael's Church, 20 Page Avenue, Cohoes, NY 12047. Nancy and I send our thoughts of sympathy to all saddened by the loss of Danuta to this world. My grandfather was her father's brother. I met her and Gene at their wedding...best wedding ever! and she was the prettiest woman in the room. While a family move and distance kept me from knowing the woman she became, reading all posts here reveals the joy she gave to the world and the one's she loved.
