Deborah Tator Obituary

Tator, Deborah Ann EAST GREENBUSH Deborah Ann Tator, 49 of East Greenbush, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 7, 2022, at St. Peter's Hospital. Deborah was born on April 5, 1972, in Albany, the daughter of the late Gerald and Phyllis (Montarulo) Decker. Debbie worked as a seventh grade social studies teacher for the majority of her career and served several years as the curriculum leader. Her kids were everything to her and she never stopped talking about them, even at home. She always went above and beyond whether it be supporting students in need or volunteering to help with leadership committees. Debbie loved to travel to her second home in Chincoteague, Va. every year since she was five months old. She always wanted to take her annual sunset photos and photos of her family on every part of the island. From a young age, she always loved playing sports. From playing with the boys on the East Greenbush baseball team up to Babe Ruth, to switching to play girls softball, to recently helping her daughter's softball team as a coach for the East Greenbush Express teams, to being an avid Yankees fan. Debbie loved the game. Throughout her life, she made strong friendships where her friends turned into her extended family, no matter where her friends went. From having a second vacation family to having her second families that were always invited to every holiday gathering, Debbie loved everyone and everyone loved her. Survivors include her beloved husband, Nathan Tator; her proud mother, Phyllis Decker; her loving children, Phyllis Rinella, and Natalie Tator; and her sister, Joanne (Craig Thaler) Dwyer. She was predeceased by her father, Gerald Decker. Friends and family are invited to attend her calling hours from 3 - 7 p.m. on Friday at the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home Inc, 165 Columbia Tpke., Rensselaer. The Mass of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday in the Church of St. Mary in Rensselaer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Deborah's name to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 28 West 44th St., Suite 609, New York, NY, 10036.

Your entire Family touched my heart in so many ways to include healing parts of it during my 20´s. Each one of you have such a special Angelic way about you. You are all forever in my heart. I remember most about Debbie was her smile, her laughter, her especially BIG personality. I knew then Debbie would make a mark in life that would be incredibly positive. She was a Leader and her confidence, insurmountable. I will forever cherish every moment I was Blessed to get to know and be around and with the entire Decker family. There has to be such a huge assignment for Debbie in Heaven for God to even consider letting her leave our world. I will Forever remember her, I will never forget her smile.

Nate, Natalie & Mrs. Decker and family words can not express the grief hearing this horrible news today. Debbie was always smiling and loved softball from the conversations I´ve had. May God bring you comfort and understanding with love to all of you during this sad time
