VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Debra Ann Bridgham (née Rodgers), known affectionately to all as Debbie, passed away peacefully, on October 8, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Va., at the age of 70.
Born in Hempstead, N.Y., Debbie was the cherished daughter of the late Edward Rodgers; and survived by mother, Frances Rodgers. She grew up on Long Island, but it was during the time spent in Lanesborough, Mass., that she met the love of her life, Robert Keith Bridgham. They shared a beautiful, unwavering partnership that spanned more than 52 years of marriage.
Debbie's life was defined by her immense heart and her dedication to caring for others. From her early career as an EMT and nurse caregiver to earning her degree as a Registered Nurse (RN), she touched countless lives with her compassion and skill. She had an extraordinary ability to sense when someone was in need, often being the first to help a stranger in distress or bring a comforting meal to a loved one. Debbie's generosity was a constant source of comfort to her community.
While her professional life was driven by service, Debbie always maintained that her greatest accomplishment was her family. She was a devoted and loving mother who instilled her generous spirit in her two children, Julia Anne VanAmburgh (Sam) and Robert Edward Bridgham (Amanda). Her family grew to include their spouses and her three adored grandchildren, Zachary VanAmburgh (Kaleigh), and Alyzabeth and Lucas Bridgham; and three step-grandchildren.
Debbie's legacy is one of selfless love, quiet strength, and endless nurturing. She will be profoundly missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know her spirited nature and generosity.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Debbie's family on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 1 p.m., at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Dr., Loudonville.
