Deven Sweet

SELKIRK Our dear little angel, Deven, age 9, went home with the Lord and to fly with the angels on August 11, 2005 after a long battle with Hunter's syndrome. Deven is survived by his parents, Michelle (Ortiz) Sweet and Scott Sweet of Selkirk; his aunts, Lynda (Keith) Geraldsen of Ravena, Juanita Ortiz of Selkirk; uncles, Michael (Mary Anne) Ortiz of Selkirk and Joe (Diane) Ortiz of Hannacroix. Deven is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Alexander and Betty Ortiz of Selkirk and his paternal grandmother, Alice Sweet. Deven was predeceased by his uncle, Christopher Ortiz; aunt, Kathy VanAlstyne; and grandfather, Albert Sweet; Deven's cousins, Krystal, Keith and Kailyn Geraldsen, Bryan, Angie and his buddy, Alex Noble, Ashley Hogan, Elissa and Christopher Ortiz, Joseph and Vanessa Ortiz. Deven will be most remembered for his love of life, his laughter, his playing ball and, most of all, the love he had playing with his wrestling men. He always thought of himself as Stone Cold. Deven really enjoyed McDonald's chicken nuggets, his soda and Dunkin Donuts Coolatas. We love and will always miss him. Friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Sunday, August 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held 9:30 a.m. Monday, August 15 at St. Patrick's Church, Ravena.
