Donald Dobert Obituary

Dobert, Donald C. WYNANTSKILL Donald C. "Duck" Dobert, 76, of Hidley Road, died on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at the Community Hospice at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy after a brief illness. Born in Sand Lake, Donald was the son of the late Carl and Bessie Teal Dobert and husband of the late Dorothy Stricker Dobert who died on May 8, 2008. Donald was a lifelong resident of the area and had attended the Averill Park Schools. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded two Bronze Service Stars. Donald spent his working career in the melt shop at Al-Tech in Watervliet and retired in 1985. After retiring, Donald continued to work doing painting and odd jobs with his brother. He was a member of the Zion's United Church of Christ in Taborton and for many years was a grounds-keeper for the church cemetery. Donald was a member of the Sullivan Jones VFW Post #7466 in Poestenkill, the Averill Park Fish and Game Club and was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed tending to his gardens and enjoyed traveling with his wife. Donald was the brother of the late Chester Dobert, Ralph Dobert and Hilda Biittig. Survivors include his children, Karen (Daniel) Morine of Averill Park, Dawn (William) Dennis of Poestenkill, Jill (Thomas) Harding of West Sand Lake and Keith (Debbie) Dobert of Averill Park; his brothers, George Dobert of Poestenkill and Marshall Dobert of Sand Lake; his sisters, Evelyn Hoffman of Averill Park, Ada Mae Ernest of Sand Lake, Jane McClellan of Averill Park and June Price of Mountain Home, Ariz.; his grandchildren, Eric Dobert, Ryan, April and Amber Dennis, Matthew and Danielle Harding, Brandon and Jared Morine and Travis, Kelvin and Hunter Dobert. Funeral service, Wednesday, 11 a.m. at the Zion United Church of Christ, Taborton Road, Sand Lake. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the church on Wednesday 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment, Taborton Cemetery. If desired, the family suggests donations in memory of Donald C. Dobert, may be made to the Zion's United Church of Christ, 741 Taborton Road, Sand Lake, NY 12153, Hospice of Rensselaer Co., 295 Valley View Blvd., Ren-sselaer, NY 12144 or the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211.
