Donald Moore Obituary

Moore, Donald B. Sr.
STILLWATER - Donald B. Moore Sr., 83, of Gronczniak Rd., died peacefully at Saratoga Hospital, on August 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in the family home in Mechanicville, on March 11, 1942, son of the late Donald R. and Lillian Thrane Moore, he was a 1960 graduate of Stillwater High School.
Don joined the U.S. Navy directly out of high school. He honorably served his country for two years and was proudly aboard the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) when it was placed into commission in 1960.
Don worked for the NYS Department of Tax and Finance in Albany for 28 years. Upon retirement, he and wife, Pat, found a love of travel. They enjoyed trips to the Caribbean and/or anywhere with a casino. In his spare time, he was a talented woodworker, gifting items to family and selling to others at craft fairs. He was an avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman; and was also a diehard N.Y. Yankee fan. While his children were young, he coached several Little League and Babe Ruth baseball teams. He was a proud attendee of the many athletic and academic activities his children and grandchildren were involved with. Don infamously ran for the Stillwater Town Council two times. He and family have long since claimed that he was the only winner of those races, "because he lost."
Survivors include his loving wife and travel partner of 64 years, Patricia Marshall Moore, whom he married on February 21, 1961; as well as his sons, Donald B. (Pam) Moore Jr., and Robert "Bob-O" (Valerie) Moore. He was proud papa to Donald III (Joanna), Conrad, Alyssa (Corey), Aubrey (Shane), Cassie (Zack); great-papa to Sonny, Lily Moon, Kayden, Kamron, Kallynn, Kendall, Logan, Phoenix, and Julian. Also survived by his sister, Janice (Harry) Powers; and brother-in-law, Thomas Marshall; several nieces and nephews; and "Frank," his pet fish. He was predeceased by his beloved dogs through the years, Whiskers, Smokey, Magic, Bandit, Shelby, Sundance, and Butch.
There will be no calling hours at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, Saratoga County Animal Shelter, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in memory of Donald B. Moore Sr. To leave condolences or to share photos and memories, please visit www.devito-salvadorefh.com.
