Dylan Pollock Obituary

Pollock, Dylan TROY Dylan Pollock, 21, of Troy, passed away from intimal sarcoma on June 16, 2018, at his home surrounded by family, friends and his very special friend, Annalise. Dylan was born in Niskayuna and resided in Troy his entire life. He graduated from St. Augustine's School, Catholic Central High School and Hudson Valley Community College. At the time of his diagnosis, he was attending SUNY Albany to achieve his bachelor's degree in criminal justice. Because of his constant desire to help people, his main goal in life was to be a New York State Trooper. Expecting to win his battle against cancer, he took the New York State Trooper's exam, and scored extremely well. Though his dream would never become reality, he was able to experience the closest thing to that dream when he was made an Honorary New York State Trooper shortly before his passing. Dylan felt he was chosen by God and given this very rare cancer in order to help others. His hope was that more research could be done to find a cure for this horrific disease. Through his entire battle with this disease, he never complained once. His way of coping was to joke about it, rather than to feel sorry for himself and be depressed. Dylan was an avid athlete, with baseball being his love. He started playing baseball at the age of four with the Lansingburgh Little League. He then went on to play for the Lansingburgh Royals, then to the Waterford Nationals and the Troy Haymakers. Dylan also played baseball throughout his days at Catholic Central High School and Hudson Valley Community College, and anticipated playing at SUNY Albany. He was a North Carolina Tar Heels, Buffalo Bills and diehard New York Yankees fan, with the highlight of his life being able to see a New York Yankees playoff game this past October, which was made possible through Night Out For You. He loved all types of music, playing video games, going to the gym, and hanging out with his many friends. Dylan is survived by his parents, Theresa (Schneider) Pollock and Al Pollock; and his sister and best friend, Teagan. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Doris and George Pollock and Betsy and Bob Schneider. He also leaves behind many adoring aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Dylan will be missed by all. Family and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday, June 27, from 3 to 7 p.m. in Our Lady of Victory Church, 55 North Lake Ave., Troy, with a Mass on Thursday, June 28, at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Victory Church. Following Mass, there will be a procession to Oakwood Chapel and Crematorium, 186 Oakwood Ave., Troy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dylan Pollock Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o CAP COM Federal Credit Union, 799 Hoosick St., Troy, NY, 12180 or to Night Out For You, P.O. Theresa and Al. I am so sorry for the loss of your precious son. I did not know him, but from the obituary he sounds like he was a wonderful, smart, and courageous young man. Although your time with him was short, I am sure that you have wonderful memories. As parents, you should be so proud you raised the remarkable man he was. He is now with his maker and they both look down upon you and guide you. God bless you during this most difficult time. May he rest in eternal peace.
