Sad to note Skip's passing today. I posted those pictures with a message. Message seems lost. So again -- Skippy, Ralphy, and Tommy were kid buddies from St Joe's school. We played under the street light at top of Trenton and wandered the hills and slate quarry and the worn paths all the way to the Troy Airport. We played war games, tag, and red light. We investigated parts of the old brewery and we baked potatoes buried in sand under our wood fire. It was a great "playground" for kids. And St Joe's offered plenty of entertainment with shows and activity at the club. As we moved past St Joe's School we kinda separated but I and Harvey Valentine sometimes got together with Skip just to tour Uptown. They were good times with friends. As my wife sez. Gettin old is not for sissies. Happy to have the memories and you were blessed to have Skip as Dad. I remember him fondly. -- God's care be upon all of you. -- -- PaPa Tom Halpin Essex Junction, VT

Sad to read of the passing of my old St Joe's and South Troy buddy. Skippy, Ralphy, and Tommy shared so many days playing at the top of Trenton Street and the fantastic "playground" that extended up the hills or over the slate quarry all the way out to the Troy Airport. We investigated the old brewery and feared Stevie the peddler's dog. Many a night under the street light playing kick the can and tag. Great sleigh ride from the top of high mound next to Skippy's house all the way down iced over Trenton to Fourth Street. We kinda drifted separate ways after St Joe's. Ralph Archer's mom remarried and moved to Schenectady. I saw Skip from time to time and we got together with good friend Harvey Valentine. I went on to Catholic High, GE, the Army and family and Essex Junction, VT.
-- Pic are from a night out in 1951 taken in photo both at Troy Railroad Station. Think we may have been at The Tavern on Broadway before pics. -- Small world -- tool makers at
GE here in Burlington got jobs, after layoffs here, and worked with Skip at Ford, Green Island. Skip was a good man. OLD is hard. Memories are a great pleasure. - God blessings on all Skip's family. ---- Tommy Halpin
