Perry, Edward C.
NORTH GREENBUSH - Edward C. Perry, 76, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2025, with family by his side, after succumbing to cancer.
Edward was born in Woodhaven, N.Y., the son of the late Howard and Marguerite (Stemmel) Perry, and spent his formative years in Delmar before raising his four children in Delmar and East Greenbush.
Ed was a three-sport star at Bethlehem High School in football, baseball, and basketball, before foregoing being drafted by MLB's Pittsburgh Pirates to play quarterback at the University of Buffalo, after which he was signed by the Dallas Cowboys.
Following his career in athletics, Ed served as a corrections officer for NYSDOCS for 20+ years.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline (Bevan); children, Edward Jr. (Angela), Adam (Jill), Ryan (Lauren), and Chelsea Mero; brother, Richard; grandchildren, Austin, Shane, Dean, Megan and Harper; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Howard; and sister, Missy.
Contributions in Edward's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
