Edward Reeves Memoriam

Reeves - Edward
In Loving Memory of Edward F. Reeves Jr. (Ned).
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Edward F. Reeves Jr. (Ned), who left us on December 7, 2024, at 86. He was the son of the late Edward and Julia (Powanda) Reeves; and predeceased by his brother, Robert Reeves.
Ned is survived by his cherished wife, Elaine (Donnelly) Reeves; his sons, Edward F. Reeves III (Tracy Davis) and Mark C. Reeves (Christina); his brothers, Donald Reeves (Anita Riforgiato) and Paul Reeves (Denise); and his sister-in-law, Pamela Reeves. He was a proud grandfather to Julia, Rachael, and Noah Reeves.
Ned was a bright light in our lives, embodying the perfect gentleman and leading by example with kindness and love for his family, friends, and coworkers. He was deeply admired by all who knew him.
He began his journey as an altar boy at St. Peter's School and went on to graduate from Catholic Central High School, Hudson Valley Community College, the General Electric apprenticeship program, and the Rochester Institute of Technology. A devoted member of Sacred Heart Church in Punta Gorda, Fla. Ned found joy in his faith and community.
His career with General Electric was a source of pride. Ned started as a draftsman and later became the general manager of customer service for G.E. Gas Turbine international division. He loved his career and developed lasting bonds with his engineers and colleagues. His role with G.E. took him all over the world and his wife would often join him on trips abroad.
He retired at age 55 and often exclaimed, "I'd go back tomorrow."
Ned had many hobbies and enjoyed hunting and scuba diving. He liked taking his young family camping with cousins, and skiing with his wife and kids. He was a member of the Elks Club, the Moose Club and the North Troy Stag Rod & Gun Club. Ned treasured the camaraderie and shared experiences with friends. In retirement, he built and flew remote control airplanes and even crashed one into the Red Sox dugout!
Ned and Elaine loved their summer place on the Hudson, their view, backyard parties with friends, and endless home projects. They spent winters in Lake Suzy, Fla., with friends, and family, visiting from New York.
While Ned struggled with Alzheimer's in his later years, he was always kind and empathetic. His witty remarks made us all laugh.
Ned often spoke of donating his body to science. He was happy knowing he'd help future doctors. His Earthly work will continue at Albany Medical College, as his soul rests in peace.
Let us remember Ned for the beautiful moments we shared and the love he brought into our lives. He will be profoundly missed by his extended family and many friends whose lives were touched by his warmth and kindness.
As Ned always said, "Keep Smiling!"
A Mass service will be held at Our Lady of Victory Church, 55 N. Lake Ave., Troy, N.Y., on January 7, 2025, at 11:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to "Help Brighten McKenzi's Juvenile A.L.S. Journey," a fundraiser started by Mark Reeves to carry on the legacy of his father, Ned, who always sought to brighten the lives of others. McKenzi's father, Chris Jacques, was Mark's best childhood friend. Donations can be made at https://gofund.me/c13e2a4f
