To Ed's family, Ed's passing is a tremendos loss to you and the entire
community. My daughter & I experienced Ed's wonderful skills as a police officer over a year ago. My daughter had been put in a very dangerous position by a total stranger and Ed helped us file the necessary charges and also helped my daughter to understand how to handle the situation. He will never be forgoten by us for his wonderful gift. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Amy and family,
I knew Ed from Rensselaer High School. He was a few years ahead of me, i was class of 1989. I also remember his when he was a part time relief driver for Rensselaer Fire Department. As a volunteer firefighter back then I went a few calls when Ed was on duty. I am sorry for your loss.

I had the pleasure of being pulled over by Officer Witko and then again seeing him in court. I say pleasure because after talking with him he was such a "real" person. I have lived in E.G. forever and know a lot of people and it did not keep him from doing his job and doing it well. While we talked he could not have talked better about his family and his plans for their future together. The fact that things have changed it does not stop the love he has and that he easily and outspokenly shared, in casual conversation, with another caring father. Be strong and stay close, his arms are around all of you.

We are deeply sorry for your loss. Ed 2 (as my father and mother called him) was a wonderful man... He always had a smile for everyone he met. It was obvious Ed loved his family and his community. God only takes the best this young. He is with his daughter Kayla now. We will miss his smiling face...
