Eleanor T. Bode

Bode, Eleanor T. VALATIE Eleanor T. Bode, 95, passed away January 1, 2013. She was a resident of Barnwell Nursing Home, having previously resided at Avila Retirement Community and Heritage Village in Guilderland. Eleanor was born June 19, 1917 in New York City, the daughter of the late William and Bessie Donohue. She grew up in Gerritsen Beach, Brooklyn and after her marriage to Eric Bode, they moved to Elmont, Long Island in 1948 to raise a family. Returning to the work force in 1963 she worked at Giffords Fuel Oil Company. She was later employed for 15 years by the New York State Court System Nassau County in the personnel office of both district and supreme courts. Upon retiring in 1981, Eleanor and her husband moved to the Albany area. Eleanor was predeceased by her loving husband, Eric in 1983. Survivors include three devoted daughters, Elizabeth (Tom) Mansfield, Mary Ellen (Al) Bove and Dolores (John) LaCarrubba; six cherished grandchildren, Charles and Eric Mamonas, Daniel Bove, Laura (Todd) DiGrigoli, Molly (Garrett) Penistan and Meghan (Chad) Flewwelling and three adored great-grandchildren, Elena, Jack and Sara DiGrigoli. The family would like to thank Jane Knoll and the 4th floor staff of Barnwell Nursing Home for their kindness and care. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:15 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to Christ the King Church, Guilderland at 11 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. The parish family of Christ the King with gather at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home for a service of prayer and remembrance. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 6 Greenwood Drive, East Greenbush, NY 12061 in memory of Eleanor T. Bode.
