Elisabeth Hegeman Obituary

Hegeman, Elisabeth TROY Elisabeth Regine Hegeman (nee Feldmann) died on November 1 (All Saints Day), 2006 at the Eddy Heritage House Nursing Center in Troy, N.Y. Her husband, William Henry Hegeman, died in 1990. Elisabeth was born in Osnabruck, Germany, February 13, 1912. She was the daughter of Heinrich Friedrick Feldmann and Luise Friedericke Dorette Feldmann (nee Linne). She had four siblings, Karl, Gustav, Friedchen and Regina, who all are deceased. She married William Hegeman in 1935 and they immigrated to the United States. The Hegemans were longtime residents of Valatie, having moved up to Valatie in 1974. Previously, they had lived in Hollis, N.Y. with their two children, Donald and Eileen, who both graduated from Queens College. Donald now resides in Chatham Center, N.Y. Eileen lives in Bellevue, Wash. Elisabeth was a homemaker and had attended "Hausfrau Schule" in Osnabruck. Her cooking had a great reputation, especially her cakes and fruit tarts. Her home was always welcoming, with fresh flowers, a piece of cake and a cup of coffee. Both her children's friends had special relationships with her and speak of her with great love. She is survived by her children, Donald and Eileen; her daughter-in-law, Carol; her son-in-law, Dennis Franks; and two grandchildren, David and Jacob Hegeman. Services are private. The family requests that any remembrances be in the form of donations to the Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center, 421 West Columbia Street, Cohoes, NY 12044
