Zemanick, Elizabeth
POESTENKILL, N.Y. - Elizabeth "Betty" A. Zemanick, 81, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023. Born in Troy on September 11, 1941, she was the daughter of the late William and Beatrice (McCarthy) Peterson.
Betty lived much of her life in Poestenkill and graduated from Catholic Central High School and Hudson Valley Community College with a degree in nursing. She was a registered nurse in the Cardiac Care Unit at Albany Memorial Hospital where she proudly dedicated herself to caring for others, something she also did for her family as a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She also volunteered much of her time as a member of the Rosary Altar Society at St. Jude's Church in Wynantskill and at the Poestenkill Home Bureau.
Betty is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Thomas P. Zemanick; their two children, Christine (Eric) Thorkildsen and Thomas J. (Wendy) Zemanick; her siblings, Patricia Nolin and William (Mary Ellen) Peterson; and many nieces and nephews; her grandchildren, Maxwell (Mary) Zemanick, Lynsey Zemanick, Augustus (Kelsey) Thorkildsen, Shane Thorkildsen, and Trent (Danielle) Thorkildsen; and her step-grandchildren, Rachel Storms, Brianna Storms, Asia Harding, Jillian Storms, and Eve Storms.

To Betty´s loved ones,
Betty was a kind gentle unassuming, humble person. The epitome of what a true Nurse should be. My sincerest sorrows for the loss of such a person who quietly was an example to all.

Betty was a beautiful person. She helped me when I was sick. I will always be so grateful to her for that. Tom used to do work around my house as well. Such great people. My condolences to your family. May Betty rest in peace.
