Ellen Elizabeth Flynn

Flynn, Ellen Elizabeth ALBANY Ellen Elizabeth Flynn, age 71, passed on October 30, 2015, surrounded by her family and friends at her home in Albany. Born in Callicoon, N.Y., Ellen was the daughter of the late Carl and Mary Johnson. She graduated from Albany Business College and worked for Parsons Child and Family Center in Albany, as a program assistant for 20 years before retiring. Ellen was a socially conscious woman who contributed to many local and even international charities. She loved visiting her family, gardening, reading and walking her dog, Tawny. Her family and friends will most remember her devotion to family and her strength of character. She was the long time caretaker of her beloved husband, John C. Flynn of Albany, to whom she was married for 46 years. She will be remembered lovingly by her daughter, Sheena Flynn of Manila, Philippines, her son, John P. Flynn of Wareham, Mass., and her eldest brother, Carl Johnson Jr. in Palm Coast, Fla. Cherished grandmother of Aislynn and Juliette Flynn and Ariana Rashid. Ellen will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, friends and in-laws. She is preceded in death by her younger brother, Daniel Johnson of Narrowsburg, N.Y. In lieu of a wake and funeral arrangements, Ellen gave her body as an anatomical gift to Albany Medical College. A Mass in her remembrance will be held at the Shrine Church of Our Lady of Americas located at 279 Central Ave., Albany, NY 12206, at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 27. All are welcome to come and celebrate Ellen's life.
