WILLOW SPRING, N.C. - Eric A. Beach, age 65, passed away peacefully at UNC Rex Hospital on June 1, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones.
Eric was born on October 6, 1957, to Shirley and Dale Beach and grew up in Latham. He graduated from Shaker High School and received an Associate in Applied Science in Mechanical Technology from Hudson Valley Community College. He obtained a Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Mechanical Engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology. Eric began his career at IBM in Endicott, N.Y., and later worked at Lockheed Martin. His major projects included design/development of multiple mail sorters/feeders, and numerous government contracts, including Marine One helicopter and tactical wheeled vehicles. Eric retired to North Carolina with his family.
Eric was an intelligent man who cared deeply for his family. He loved sharing his knowledge and was the ultimate handyman who could fix anything. Eric was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed cross-country skiing, kayaking, exploring new walking trails, and enjoying bonfires with his kids. He loved cruising on his 1985 Yamaha motorcycle and was an avid boater in the N.Y. Finger Lakes.
Eric is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Beach of 31 years; his son, Brad Beach, and his daughter, Erica Beach (Diante Cobb); stepmother, Joan Beach; his sister-in-law, Sandra Rhoades; niece and nephew, Amelia Beach and Jon Beach. Eric was predeceased by his father, Dale Beach, his mother, Shirley Wheeler Beach, and brother Jeffrey Beach.
