Esther Altha Fox

Fox, Esther Altha COHOES Esther Fox, 93, passed away on November 12, 2010. Born Esther VanVranken in Schenectady, N.Y. on May 26, 1917, she was a descendent of the first settler in what was to become the Town of Clifton Park. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Emma (Irish) Van Vranken of Vishers Ferry, N.Y. and was married for 48 years to the late Robert L. Fox. She was a graduate of Southside High School in Rockville Center, N.Y. and was employed in administrative positions by the Doubleday Publishing Company in Garden City, N.Y. and Manhattan, the General Electric Company in Schenectady, N.Y. and the former Avenue A Pharmacy in Schenectady. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Rexford., N.Y. She was predeceased by her stepdaughter, Barbara Kirkland and is survived by her son, Douglas (Phyllis) Fox of Loudonville, N.Y.; a sister, Alma Payn of Medford, Ore.; a sister-in-law, Melba Schoenberg of Charlton, N.Y.; grandchildren, Laura (Ronald) Moss of Wallingford, Conn., Sarah (Aaron) Myers of Ithaca, N.Y., Thomas Fox of Tarzana, Calif., Robert (Catherine) Waters of Dothan, Ala., Howard (Lisa) Waters of Huntsville, Ala., Catherine (Daniel) White of Dothan, Ala., J. Barry (Kim) Kirkland of Pinckard, Ala.; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Eddy Daybreak and Eddy Village Green for their exceptional care and outstanding service over the past five years. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church, corner Glenridge Rd. and Bradt Rd. in Rexford. Internment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
