Everett Doten Obituary

Doten, Everett D. ROCK CITY FALLS Everett D. Doten, 70, of Rock City Road, died Tuesday afternoon, December 11, 2007 at Saratoga Hospital, after a brief illness. Born in Lynn, Mass., Everett grew up in Mechanicville, where he attended school, and had lived in Rock City Falls for over 30 years. A longtime machinist for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady before retiring, Everett also had worked at the former West Virginia Pulp and Paper Co. in Mechanicville, until the plant closed in 1971. A US Navy Seabee from 1959-61, Everett enjoyed life, his family and was proud of his home. Survivors include his wife of over 40 years, Joan Vinehout Doten; his two sons, Everett Jr. and Bruce; grandchildren; brothers, Herbert and Eugene Doten and a sister, Barbara Lynch along with nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville. Burial in Memory's Garden, Colonie. Calling hours at the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 p.m. Remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, St. Jude Way, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

I was surprised and saddened to see Everett's obituary. We used to be neighbors when he resided on West Street. I don't remember seeing him too much because he was always such a hard worker. He was either working or sleeping between jobs. My deepest sympathies and prayers are with you.
