NAPLES, Fla. - Florence "Floss" B. Bogdan, age 86, passed away peacefully in Naples, Fla. on March 9. Born on March 2, 1938, in Albany, N.Y., she was the daughter of Storrs M. Bishop Jr. and Agnes Morris Bishop. Floss's academic journey led her from Dana Hall in Wellesley, MA, graduating in 1956, to Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., where she earned her degree in Business in 1960. It was in that same year she united in marriage with her beloved Edward A. Bogdan Jr. on September 10.
Floss's passion for business was matched only by her commitment to community service. In Albany, she dedicated over two decades on the Board at St. Margaret's Center, serving as Treasurer and President, aiding children facing significant medical challenges. She also served as Treasurer on the Board of the Albany Child's Hospital. Her community engagement extended to the Friday Morning Club (President and Treasurer), The Garden Club, The Junior League of Albany, St. Peter's Church (Asst. Treasurer and Alter Guild & Flower Arranging Chair) and Skidmore College Class Agent & Reunion Co-Chair.
Upon retiring to Naples, Fla. in 2000 with Ed, Floss continued her philanthropic endeavors as the Treasurer of the League Club. She also enjoyed membership at the Royal Poinciana Golf Club and the La Playa Beach Club.
Floss's social grace and elegance were unparalleled, and her move to Florida marked a new chapter of friendship and adventure. An avid traveler, she explored the world from Asia to the Caribbean, Alaska to Europe, always with poise and charm. Her lifelong love of horse racing found a home at the Saratoga Reading Rooms, where she and Ed were respected members.
Floss's legacy lives on through her four children, Agnes (Jon) of New York, N.Y., Edward III (Rosemarie) of Albany, N.Y., Valerie (Kevin) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Stephen of Naples, Fla.; and her six grandchildren, Kole, Chase, Drew, Nate, Taylor, and Kyle.
A service to celebrate Floss's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, 107 State Street, Albany, N.Y. with a reception to follow at The Fort Orange Club, 110 Washington Ave., Albany, N.Y. She will be buried at a private ceremony at St. John's Cemetery, Amsterdam, N.Y.
