Frances Prahm Obituary

Prahm, Frances J.
KOKOMO, Ind. - Frances "Frannie" Josephine Prahm, 88, of Kokomo, passed away on September 9, 2025, at her residence. She was born to the late Oswald King and Anna (Wilson) Weaver on September 27, 1936, in Albany. Frannie married Byron on January 10, 1959, in Troy, and he survives.
Frannie graduated from Saint Augustine's School and Catholic Central High School, both located in Troy. After that, she went to Saint Peter's Hospital School of Nursing in Albany to earn her R.N. During her nursing career, she worked at eight hospitals in four states as she and Byron moved around the world during his military career. In 1969, while Byron was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia, she became certified as a surgical operating room nurse and then went to work for the well-known orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Jim Andrews. After she and Byron relocated to Kokomo, IN, she continued her career in the operating room at St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo until her retirement. She was a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses, the Orthopedic Nurses Association of Georgia, and Certified Nurses of the Operating Room.
Byron's career also took them to India where Frannie learned to play golf, taught yoga and briefly tried horseback riding.
During retirement, together with Byron, she was a member of a very special group of friends self-named the "Romeos and Juliets." Many fun times were had lunching together on Wednesdays as well as celebrating birthdays and anniversaries.
Frannie was a devout Catholic and long-time parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Byron; brother, Oswald King Weaver, of New Fairfield, Conn.; and sixteen nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Anne (Phil) Oby, Marilyn (Ray) Myers, and Connie (Erwin) Kelly; sister-in-law, Patricia Weaver; sister-in-law, Linda Cole; and brother-in-law, Deny Cole.
