WATERFORD - The family of Francis A. "Frank" Roberts, 87, of Waterford, N.Y., would like to announce his passing on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Samaritan Hospital. Born on October 1, 1937 in Cohoes, N.Y., to Fortunate and Emma Roberts, Frank lived a life filled with a generous and caring spirit. Always one to offer his support to all who asked without thought or reservation. If help was requested, "no" was not a word in his vocabulary. One of ten siblings, Frank graduated from Cohoes High School in 1957. Was known as "Frenchie" by many of his high school peers. He excelled in both football and track, where he was noted as one of the fastest sprinters in the Capital District. Went on to work for Albany International in Menands, N.Y., where he retired after 37 years. In his leisure time he enjoyed bowling, golf, horseshoes, walking, fishing, and watching sports and old movies. He enthusiastically attended all athletic or significant events of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren throughout his life. Survived by his siblings, Irene and Robert Hickey, of Green Island, N.Y., Cecile and Paul Gauthier, of Cohoes, NY. His children, Amy and Jim Cucchi, of Cohoes, N.Y., Frank Roberts, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., Don and Kiki Roberts, of Tucson, Ariz., Dawn Riley and Tom Purstell, of Cohoes, N.Y. Grandchildren, Richard Busta (Teresa), James Busta (Kristin), Jessica Cucchi (Tia), Kevin Riley, Sean Riley (Amanda), Shelby Piper (Andrew), Brady Roberts. Great-grandchildren, Bennie, Finn, Isabel, Lucy; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by siblings, Agnes Roberts, Leo and June Roberts, Theresa and Attelio Faroni, Peter and Carrie Roberts, Paul and Doris Roberts. Rene Roberts, Eugene and Sandy Roberts. Frank was an Elder at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Cohoes, N.Y. Consistent with his generous spirit, he chose to gift his remains to Albany Medical College for research. To celebrate his life, family and friends are invited to a memorial on Sunday, September 21, from 1 to 3 p.m., at St. Johns Episcopal Church, 405 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes, N.Y. 12047.
In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest donations be made to The Alzheimer's Association, through St. John's Episcopal Church.
