Frank Masullo Obituary

Masullo, Frank A. ROTTERDAM Frank A. Masullo, 92, passed away in his home on Saturday, June 27, 2015, surrounded by loving family and friends. Frank was born December 10, 1922, to the late Luciano and Raffaela Masullo in the village of Sacco, Salerno Province, Italy. Born into a very poor agricultural village, life was difficult; resources were scarce, and he worked the fields to help support his family from starvation. Frank lost his mother at the age of nine and for 1 1/2 years during World War II he was a POW in a German concentration camp on the Greek Island of Rhodes. Frank would speak about these hardships, but he always considered himself a lucky man and was most grateful for the opportunities he was allowed upon immigrating to the United States in October 1946. Frank came to Schenectady and embraced the skill of a mason and began working for Gullott Concrete & Masonry. Eventually, Frank began to build homes and in 1959 established Masullo Brothers Builders, Inc., with his brother, Carmine. He met and married his wife, Angelina Miele in 1951, raised a family, and most enjoyed his home and garden. Frank was predeceased by his sister, Angelina Consoli; brother, Carmine Masullo and grandchildren, Nicholas Masullo and Gary Masullo. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Angelina. Father of Louis (Jeanie) Masullo of Voorheesville, Christine Masullo of Rotterdam and Annette (Keith) Norvel of Corning. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Dillon, Jordan, Harrison and Sophia. He will be fondly remembered by his nephew, Carmine (Linda) Masullo; nieces, Lucille (John) Hodorowski and Marie DeSantis and other nieces, nephews and cousins here in the United States and in Salerno, Italy. The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Parkes, Dr. George A. Vassolas and all the staff at Cardiology Associates of Schenectady for the thorough care provided; for the compassion and care given to Dad by caregivers, Maggie Monte, Michelle Freeman, Valerie Ford and Nevid Budhram; for the helpful influence and guidance of Sonja, Tim, Sue, Louise, Kathy and Heidi from the VNS Pallative Care Program; and Home Instead Senior Care Agency under the direction of Linda St. Louis. Relatives and friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday, July 2, 2015, from 5-7 p.m. Funeral from the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Schenectady, Friday, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace. Interment will be in Sts. Cyril and Method Cemetery. In Frank's memory, donations may be made to Visiting Nurses Service of Northeaster New York, 108 Erie Blvd., Schenectady, NY 12305. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Richard DeLuccia.
