Houser, Frederick E. Jr. SOUTH TROY Frederick E. Houser Jr., 77, of South Troy, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2015, after battling a long illness. Born in Troy on November 5, 1937, he was a son of the late Frederick and Margaret (Yetto) Houser. A lifelong Troy resident, Fred was educated locally and graduated from Troy High School. He served his country from 1962 until 1967 and was honorably discharged at the rank of sergeant. Fred retired from the Standard Rosenbaum Company in Latham, where he was employed for well over 30 years. He was dedicated to his family and was a hardworking husband and father. Fred's time was spent making those around him smile and supporting the activities of his wife and son. In his early years, Fred caused quite a bit of mischief, but settled down once he had a family of his own. He was a loving husband and always at his wife's side. Fred could regularly be found in the dug out of his son's little league games or the sideline's of football games. In his later years, Fred enjoyed watching baseball, football, and NASCAR with family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Marion Rose (Swart) Houser, whom he married in St. Lawrence's Church in South Troy on July 2, 1960; his son, Frederick E. Houser III (Tracy) of Pittstown; his brother, Edward John Houser (the late Pat) of Troy; grandchildren, Alicia, Nicholas and Tiffany; great-grandchildren, Elliana, Dominick, David, Nicolette and Abigail. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2015, at St. Joseph's Church, located at the corner of Third & Jackson Streets in South Troy. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, South Troy. The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, October 7, at Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) in North Troy.
