Frederick Ryan. Obituary

Ryan, Frederick J. TROY On April 12, 2022, in Crossville, Tenn., as thunder rolled and lightning flashed, Frederick J. Ryan took his last breath and left this world behind for a far better place. Fred left behind the love of his life, his heartbroken wife, Debra; and sisters, MarykayPawlows (John) and Karen Funk-Smith (Caleb). Fred is also survived by his son, Jason Staring (Sara); daughter, Brandee Henry (Steven); bonus daughter, Rebecca Young; grandsons, Austin Scott (Morgan), and Damian Fleming (McKenna); granddaughter, Olivia Staring; two great-grandchildren, Noah and Ava Fleming; sisters-in- law, Cathy Hanczaryk and Lynda DeBell; brother-in-law, Walter DeBell (Nancy); several nieces and nephews, and his favorite little dog (don't tell the others), Panda. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Frederick K. and Margaret Ryan. Fred was proud of growing up in South Troy and was a 1971 graduate of LaSalle Institute. He then worked as a gage technician for General Electric in Schenectady for 42 years. Fred was a member of the American Legion Post #1489 Wynantskill, and the Polish American Club in South Troy. Fred loved making memories with his family, little Panda, the Yankees, the Giants, casinos, turkey pot pies from Duncan's Dairy Bar and riding his motorcycle. For over 25 years, he was the bookkeeper for the Capital District Custom Motorcycle Association (CDCMA) and enjoyed many rides and events with his club brothers. In 2014 after retiring from G.E., Fred and Debra moved to Crossville, Tenn. to start the next chapter of their lives and they have been enjoying their retirement away from New York blizzards, snow blowers, and taxes. Fred had a ready laugh and a winning smile. He loved sitting in the driveway and striking up conversations with anyone passing by. His absence will be felt in the lives of so many. Fred decided against a wake and preferred a private family burial. There will be a celebration of Fred's life on May 7, at the Polish American Club from 12-4 p.m. so please save the date and join us. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either the Polish American Club, 507 1st St., Troy, NY, 12180; or Heaven can Wait Rescue and Sanctuary, P.O. Box 681434, Franklin, TN, 37068-1434 as both these groups were important to Fred.

He will be missed. That gentle mountain of a man with the barrel laugh. Always loved to have a chuckle with him. It was a pleasure to ride with him in the club so many years and proud to be called my brother.

I remember growing up with Fred. Him and my grandparents Linda and JR Stevens and he was so much fun. I remember always going with my grandfather on the memorial runs with Fred and the rest of CMA it was an amazing experience I got to enjoy growing up with them. Fred would meet us at a dinner in the morning to get breakfast before the run. And their bbqs we're so great I'll never forget Fred ever! He was such an amazing guy all around and will forever be missed!

I´ll always remember the first time we met. You attended a silent auction and bought my NYbasket as Fred wanted the box of Freihofer´s cookies. Most expensive cookies ever! He will be missed by so many in both NY and TN. Love to all of you

Fred, I wish you came into my life sooner and stayed
around much, much longer.
I will miss your smile, your laugh, your stories and
all that knowledge but most of all I will miss that
Big Irish Heart and the way you always said, "LOVE YA
BROTHER" when you hugged me.
When you are all caught up with seeing your family
and friends again, I am betting GOD has his leather
on and is waiting for "BINGO" run.
R.I.P. Big Brother, thoughts and prayers to all your
loved ones.
X's & O's Big Sis.
