A friend who shared wonderful thoughts on Facebook.

The average person spends more than 1/3 of their life in the workplace. If you are lucky, you will find someone to connect with, that one person you can relate to - the colleague who makes you a better person. As a new trainee in 1980, Gail Van Kuren was my "person" at OGS in Albany, NY. I moved away in 1997, but we remained long distance friends. In 2019, we happily met for brunch when I was in Albany. We were totally comfortable in each other's presence, and just picked up where we left off! Gail was one of the kindest, most thoughful people I know. We had wonderful conversations about work/husbands/life, during coffee breaks on the 29th floor, and she was always a voice of reason. Moreover, Gail offered great advice when I became a new mother. Over the years, she never forgot my daughter's birthday, and happily celebrated her marriage and birth of a son. Allie loved her too. I am beyond sad to hear that she recently passed away. RIP Gail, you are a beautiful soul.

So sad to read about Gail. What a wonderful person and employee. She was fair, ethical, and so efficient. She was such a caring person. We often talked about her doll collection. So happy to have spent a delightful lunch with her last year. Sincerest sympathy to all the family.
