Gary Michael Shields

Shields, Gary Michael CLIFTON PARK Gary Michael Shields, 59 of Clifton Park, died unexpectedly on October 28, 2022. Born on July 26, 1963, he was the son of the late John James Shields and the late Nancy Joan (Yankowski) Shields, formerly of Troy. A graduate of Catholic Central High School, Gary went on to attend Hudson Valley Community College and Oneonta receiving his bachelor's degree in business and ultimately starting his career with Social Security Administration. Gary was beloved by his colleagues, family and friends alike. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, boating, the Dodgers, the Redskins and coaching. He coached JV football at Catholic Central High School, where he was also inducted into the Hall of Fame, Junior/Senior Plainsmen Football, and Clifton Park Baseball, not to mention the countless hours through the years of sitting on a bucket, catching softballs for his girl. Although Gary accomplished many things in his life, none were more important than raising his children with his wife Lori, whether planning special family trips or traveling near and far to attend rec, high school and college sporting events. Gary could not have been prouder of his children and the young men and woman they had become. In addition to his children, Jack (predeceased), Abby, and Michael, Gary is survived by his stepson, Kyle Cooper (Emily); his grandchildren, Brayden, Jason and Myla of Auriesville; his wife, Lori; his sister, Sandy Harper (Phil) of Niskayuna; his niece, Shannon Harper of Menands; his nephews, Joe and Ryan Harper of Schenectady, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. We will forever be grateful that you were a part of lives. We will love and miss you forever. The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, in St. Michael the Archangel Church, 175 Williams Rd, Troy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 7, in St. Michael's Church at 9 a.m. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Joseph's Cemetery, 156 Mann Ave, Troy.
