George Ide Obituary

Ide, George III
QUEENSBURY - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of George Peck Ide III, 89, who died Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at The Pines at Glens Falls, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
Born in Troy, he was the son of the late George P. Ide Jr. and Kathryn Gordinier Ide; and married for 59 years to Anne Thomas Ide. He had lived in the Troy area most of his life, but has resided in Saratoga Springs. He earned his engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. After college, George enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for two years.
George had a warm smile, a kind heart, and an unwavering dedication to those he loved. His presence lit up every room, and his stories, advice, and sense of humor will be remembered by all who loved him.
We are grateful for the time we had with him and the love he gave so freely. Nothing brought him more joy than being with his family.
He was President and Partner of Burch Bottle and Packaging for 53 years.
He was a long-time member of the Country Club of Troy. He lived a life centered around love, laughter, and togetherness. He had a gift that is all too rare: the ability to be present.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Anne, include; his son, George P. (Cynthia) Ide, IV; and daughter, Betsey (Bob) Sullivan; and his six grandchildren, Madeline, Aubrey, and Sarah Ide, Katie, Allie, and Molly Sullivan; and his sister, Kay (Ted) Mellor. He was predeceased by his sister, Patty Williams.
Funeral service will be held Friday, May 30, 2025, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 146 First St., Troy, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Judith Malionek, Mother, officiating.
Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, directly following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of George Peck Ide III to the American Parkinson Disease Association Inc., Parkinson Plaza, 135 Parkinson Ave., Staten Island, N.Y. 10305, https://support.apdaparkinson.org

Anne, I am very sorry to learn of George´s passing and extend prayers and sympathy to you, George, Betsey, Kay and your six grandchildren. George was a wonderful person, who was devoted to all of you . He did not know how to be unkind. I can picture tooling around downtown Troy with George at the wheel of his new Thunderbird......in 1956. To borrow a line from Dr. Seuss , Weep not that it is over ; but smile because it happened. I do hope to extend personal condolences during the summer. Maury Hartigan, New Canaan, CT
