George Powers Obituary
BALLSTON LAKE - George Joseph Powers, Jr., 74, of Ballston Lake, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2024, at home, surrounded by family.
He was born on August 2, 1949, to the late George and Muriel Powers in Troy, N.Y.
George was a dedicated employee for the Dept. of Corrections, where he worked for many years as a Corrections Officer then Firearms Instructor, before retiring in May of 1999.
George is survived by his loving wife of ten years, Kelly Powers; his three children, George (Rebecca) Powers, III, Christopher (Alexis) Powers, and Nicholas (Autumn) Powers; his three stepchildren, LaFon (Michele) Sutton, Bruce (Jeanna) Hathaway, and Brianna Hathaway; 10 beautiful grandchildren; several siblings, his beloved fur companion, Ruby and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, George and Muriel Powers, he was predeceased by his brother, Charles (Chuck) Powers; and nephew, Jason Powers.
George's family would also like to sincerely thank very dear family friends, Jeanette Kavanaugh and Darlene Krug; as well as give a special thanks to Pastor, Dan Tabolt, Brenda Petty, Ed and Sharon Wilkins, Abundant Life Fellowship, Roswell Park Cancer Center at Ellis Hospital, and Saratoga County Hospice for the wonderful care and support given during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m., with a service to begin at 6 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, New York.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
