Gerald Maloy Obituary

Maloy, Gerald P. Jr. ALBANY Gerald P. Maloy Jr., 70, died March 21, 2013 at St. Peter's Hospice after a long illness. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Gerald P. and Rita Plantz Maloy. He was a graduate of the former Vincentian Institute and Christian Brothers Academy where he played basketball. He attended Alabama University and Auburn in Alabama. Jerry was a salesman for Kimberly Clark for many years and later worked for Alamo Car Rental. He spent time coaching Little League and basketball at various youth groups in many community recreation leagues. He is the stepson of Jean Maloy; brother of Maureen DeWitt, Susan Murante, Rita Maloy, Mark Maloy and the late Terrence Maloy. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of St. Peter's Hospice, Albany County Nursing and Rehabilitation and especially respiratory therapist , Dan. Also, a special thank you to their cousin, Suzanne Hallinan for the long hours of loving care during Jerry's illness. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 N. Allen St., Albany on Friday from 5-7 p.m. and are invited to stay for a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place Saturday morning at 10:00 at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. Those wishing to remember Jerry in a special way may send contributions to Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205. I was sorry to read of Gerry's Passing.
We grew up in Pine Hills, and attending CBA together. Many afternoons playing basketball. He was an old friend, and will be missed.
