Gerry, I can’t believe it’s now been five years since you departed. You missed the pandemic and the better part of a disastrous Trump presidency. I remember joking with you about how he’d never win an election. I wish I knew what you were up to. A friend from high school who is a self-proclaimed psychic reached out to me right after you passed away to tell me how you were doing. One of the things she said you said to tell me, that I have always remembered, is that you wished I could “see the view from here.” I like to think she was being genuine and that your perspective from Heaven is what she was referring to. God bless you, my Friend.

Its been three years since you passed away, Gerry, and I can still hear your laughter and remember your stories. The world is a lonelier place without you. I hope you are sharing that laughter with your family, friends and cats in Heaven. The drama goes on here without you. I am so grateful you no longer have to deal with the burdens of this earthly life. God bless you!! Hoping to see you again someday.

I worked in the receiving department at Albany Medical Center in the 70's with Gerry. He was a great guy and we were good friends during that time. He was a hard worker I really enjoyed working with him. He was indeed proud of his heritage. We all had nicknames in the department and Gerry told us to just call him 'Greek'. We worked together for about five years.
On Fridays after work we'd go down to 'Papas' tavern on New Scotland Avenue where we'd play foosball, have a few beers and a burger. When one of our other co-workers was getting married in Syracuse my girlfriend and I and Gerry all drove out together and had a great time at the wedding and reception.
Everyone Gerry worked with in our department liked him a lot and when I think from time to time of my years working there I always think of him.

Gerry, you were a good man and a good friend to me. I loved hearing you recount stories from your childhood and your vacation trips to The Grand Canyon and Hawaii. I especially enjoyed your stories about the stubborn mule that refused to let you ride it on a trail during an excursion in The Grand Canyon. You loved the many cats who shared your home throughout the years, and I know without a doubt that they cherished you, as well. Godspeed, dear Friend. I am a better person for having known you.
