TROY - Our beautiful mother, Geraldine "Gerry" Kyer, 98, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, surrounded by her family. She died as she lived her life, with dignity, grace, and faith.
Born and raised in Troy, she attended St. Joseph's School, Troy High School and went on to work at Behr Manning. She then married and moved to Tomhannock, where she raised her eight children. After raising her children, she went to work for New York State, from which she retired in 1991.
She was predeceased by her mother, Mary (Canfield) Sickles; her brother, Frank (Eleanor) Hayes; her grandson, Michael Bartis; and her good friend, Larry Gillespie. She is survived by her children, Sandy (Terry) Malone of Schaghticoke, Don (Judy) Kyer of Ruskin, Fla., Gary (Edna) Kyer of Saratoga Springs, Nancy (Rocky) Couser of Schaghticoke, Bill (Laura) Kyer of Saratoga Springs, Lynne Bartis of Schaghticoke, Lori (Larny) Chapko of Valley Falls; Jim (Christine) Kyer of Valley Falls; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She loved being with her family, loved music and to dance. Among many of her cherished memories was her trip to Ireland and to Branson. Her greatest gift to her children was living and sharing a life filled with love and unconditional support. Our family will miss her kind and generous spirit.
