Harold Horning Obituary

Horning, Harold W.
CLIFTON PARK - Harold William Horning, 95, of Clifton Park, passed away peacefully on September 28,2025, in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on November 11, 1929, in Kingston, N.Y., he was the son to the late Arnold and Mildred Horning. He graduated Kingston High School in 1947 and soon after, served two years in the Army during the Korean War. He completed his college education at Hobart-William College in 1952. Harold was granted The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of New York award for dedicating 67 years of support and dedication to the Masonic Fraternity after becoming a member in 1958. He followed in the footsteps of his father and began his career with The New York Telephone Company for 32 years. His next chapter of employment was one of his greatest joys. He became CEO of Capital Communications Federal Credit Union (Cap Com). He had volunteered for over 50 years and in 2016, he was awarded National Credit Union Associations Volunteer of the Year. Harold was a longtime member of Shenendehowa Methodist Church, where he served in many volunteer positions ranging from county fair cook to treasurer. Harold has cherished all the lifelong friendships he has formed over the years and enjoyed mentoring so many others. Harold enjoyed being an avid golfer until the age of 90, watching Shenendehowa football games, going out to eat with "the guys," hitting up the Saratoga casino, and visiting his favorite island of Aruba. Harold is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jane Horning; his daughters, Nancy Hull (Dan), Ann Dawdy (Michael), and Linda D'Agostino (Michael). His beloved grandchildren, Andrew Dawdy, Eric Dawdy, Alexis D'Agostino, and Michael D'Agostino. The family would like to thank the many people who stepped in over the past two years to help care for both Harold and Jane, allowing their wish to stay in their home to be honored. Family and friends are invited and may call from 4 to 7 p.m., on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the Wynantskill Funeral Home, 294 Whiteview Road, Wynantskill, N.Y. Harold was one of the nicest, most respectful men I have ever met. He was a dear friend of my late husband Jimmy´s. They would share stories and coffee on the beach in Aruba many years. My prayers go out to Jane, Linda and family.
