Helen Duda Obituary

COLONIE Helen Hanis Duda, age 85, of Reber St., died Friday, February 27, 2004 at St. Peter's Hospital. Born and raised in Dunmore, Pa., Helen graduated as salutatorian from Dunmore High School. While she lived in Colonie, she was a member of the Home Bureau, a communicant of the Church of St. Clare and was a cub scout den leader for her children. She was very active in her children's lives and was a terrific homemaker. Helen worked on many political campaigns in the Town of Colonie and was always ready to volunteer her time and services. During the late 1960s and early 1970s, she worked as a salesperson at Macy's in Colonie. Helen was married for 58 years to the late Stephen W. Duda. She was the mother of Barbara J. Kelly of Colonie, Lawrence S. Duda, DDS of Albany and the late Stephen H. Duda; grandmother of Annmarie Kelly, Stacey DuCharme, Jonathon Duda, Richard Duda and Elizabeth Duda; and great-grandmother of Aiden Duda. Funeral 8:15 Tuesday morning from the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, Colonie and at 9:00 o'clock at the Church of St. Clare, 1947 Central Ave., Colonie. Burial will be in Memory's Garden in Colonie. Calling hours will be Monday from 4-6 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 85 Watervliet Ave., Albany, NY 12206.
